“If you’re here you belong here” Gene Gendlin
Hi, I’m Carla de Kretser,
This is a place for you to explore shedding layers of conditioned beliefs to connect with your true unique being.
Offerings are inclusive of a variety of tools to guide your unique self on your journey, to healing and igniting your spark, that inner flame of aliveness. These tools have been obtained over years of study, practice and implementation in my life via yoga, meditation, reiki and holistic counselling.
The style of yoga offered is based on 20 years of practice and 400+ hours of YTT studies through Tantric Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. My classes are formed through embodied sequencing, to assist students shift from their head down to their heart space.
My yoga practice began at Melbourne studios with my mother when I was a teenager.
Yoga played an extension of my love for movement and dance. Although Calisthenics and various dance styles played a large role in cultivating the pathway to my first Yoga Teacher Training (in 2018), the main reason I decided to teach was due to the feeling I felt when practicing yoga. Being completely immersed in the practice, letting go of tight grips within the mind and falling deep into the flow and spark of feeling alive.
This is the feeling is want to share with you.
In 2019 my healing journey with anxiety began. This ignited a curiosity to learn as much as possible to find out what it was that was happening through my body and mind. The start of what has now been years of “going in” to discover my inner world and belief system.
From here the passion to help others in the way I have been able to help myself begun via Holistic Counselling modalities and the power of a regular yoga and meditation practice.
I’ve always been grateful for the practice of yoga, its origins and my teachers, and it’s my intention to be able to continue to practice, absorb and share what I myself have learnt with you.
the story behind māḷu
-
Māḷu (Sinhalese) | Fish (English)
Growing up in Australia I’ve always loved the water.
Being free to submerge and explore a peaceful and intriguing world.Raised by my Sri-Lankan Dad who is fascinated by philosophy and spirituality, (we call him the “guru”, fun, loving and witty “go with the flow” is his motto) and Mum, born in Cairo, Egypt with a European background she’s a driven, fiery and lively Sagittarius and has always been the biggest support in my life.
They are Yin and Yang and have made me the person I am today. We would go every summer down to the Mornington Peninsula where the sun would beam off the glimmering crystal blue water.
My brother, father and I would swim far out to where the water would get dark and deep, whilst mum relaxed and read her books in peace.
Diving under the water has always felt both liberating and calming at the same time.
Swimming deep to access this peaceful world both externally, yet also exploring within. It still amazes me how lucky we are in Australia to live near both such peaceful and wild coastlines.
It’s certainly the place where I always felt most relaxed as a child and still to this day.Māḷu is a cheerful Sinhalese song about fish I remember from my childhood. We still sing it to this day. It connects me to my roots and serves as a symbol to embody this deep connection through our physical body and to our spiritual selves. As now I connect the spiritual meaning with yoga to create a sense of forever exploring the deeper awareness and finding the energetic lift, that spark of aliveness that comes when in your state of flow.
