Hey, I’m Carla. Your guide towards self-acceptance and self-belief.

With over 20 years of personal practice and 400+ hours of Yoga Teacher Training in Tantric Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, my classes are rooted in embodied sequencing, supporting students to move from mind to heart.

My journey with yoga began as a teenager, practicing alongside my mother in Melbourne studios. Coming from a background in dance and movement, yoga became more than a practice — it was a way to feel fully alive, to soften the mind’s grip, and connect deeply with myself. This is the feeling I hope to share with you.

In 2019, my healing journey with anxiety opened a deeper path of self-inquiry, leading me to explore the mind-body connection and the power of consistent inner work. This inspired my training in holistic counselling and my passion for helping others navigate their own healing journeys.

I’m deeply grateful for the wisdom of yoga, its roots, and my teachers — and it’s my intention to continue learning, embodying, and sharing these practices with you.

the story behind māḷu

  • Inspired by the symbolism of fish and water, along with my Father’s Sri-Lankan roots, Malu yoga reflects transformation, fluidity, and deep inner connection. In many traditions, fish represent adaptability and the flow of life. They are messengers from the depths, guiding us through healing and change.

Water, the element of emotion and intuition, reminds us to surrender, renew, and trust the natural cycles of life. Together, they embody the essence of moving with grace through life’s tides, inviting us to explore our inner world and emerge transformed.

  • Māḷu (Sinhalese) | Fish (English)

Growing up in Australia I’ve always loved the water.
Being free to submerge and explore a peaceful and intriguing world.

Raised by my Sri-Lankan Dad who is fascinated by philosophy and spirituality, (we call him the “guru”, fun, loving and witty “go with the flow” is his motto) and Mum, born in Cairo, Egypt with a European background she’s a driven, fiery and lively Sagittarius and has always been the biggest support in my life.
They are Yin and Yang and have made me the person I am today.

We would go every summer down to the Mornington Peninsula where the sun would beam off the glimmering crystal blue water.

My brother, father and I would swim far out to where the water would get dark and deep, whilst mum relaxed and read her books in peace.
Diving under the water has always felt both liberating and calming at the same time.
Swimming deep to access this peaceful world both externally, yet also exploring within.

It still amazes me how lucky we are in Australia to live near both such peaceful and wild coastlines.
It’s certainly the place where I always felt most relaxed as a child and still to this day.

Māḷu is a cheerful Sinhalese song about fish I remember from my childhood. We still sing it to this day. It connects me to my roots and serves as a symbol to embody this deep connection through our physical body and to our spiritual selves. As now I connect the spiritual meaning with yoga to create a sense of forever exploring the deeper awareness and finding the energetic lift, that spark of aliveness that comes when in your state of flow.
