How Small Acts of Kindness Create Big Change

The daily vibe of most people living in cities on our planet can feel fast-paced and overwhelming. When we are overwhelmed we’re more inclined to feel anxious, and, when we are anxious we are in a state of survival and more inclined to be consuming and wanting more, more, more. Lost in a loop of ever consuming, scarcity mindset.
Remember playing musical chairs as a child? The winner had to fight for a seat, and each round there was one less chair. It was all about competition, and to me, it screams scarcity.

As a society, we like to think we’ve been raised to share and support one another, but the reality doesn’t always reflect that.

Giving however, offers us a way to slow down, connect, and contribute to something greater than ourselves. Whether it’s through time, resources, or simple acts of kindness, giving is one of the most powerful ways to create meaningful change, not just for those receiving but for ourselves as well.

Giving is an expression of care, empathy, and connection, and, acts of generosity can reduce stress meanwhile boosting happiness. It reminds us of our shared humanity and reinforces the idea that we are all in this together.

I’ve witnessed the impact that charities like Bailey’s Day, Speak & Share, Starlight Foundation and Very Special Kids have on families and communities. These organisations do incredible work, from funding children’s brain cancer research to creating spaces for mental health conversations.

After my nephew was heartbreakingly diagnosed with brain cancer, we received so much love via well wishes, prayers, supporting via GoFundMe and incredible experiences were created for Hudson. It has all made me think lately about how important it is for humanity to support one another. We’ve often been taught that asking for help is a weakness, but in truth, it’s how we grow stronger together. It’s how we rise, support each other, and create something greater as a collective.

This is one of the reasons I have decided to include giving back $100 split between Bailey’s Day and Speak & Share for each Ignite Your Spark Retreat guest this August.

Giving doesn’t have to be complicated or grand. It can be as simple as:

  • Supporting a cause that resonates with you

  • Offering your time or skills to a community in need

  • Choosing to shop from businesses that give back

  • Sharing awareness about organizations making a difference

  • Practicing kindness in your daily interactions

When we give, we create a world that is more compassionate, connected, and hopeful. So, whether it’s through movement, time, or resources, let’s find ways to give and watch the ripple effect unfold.
